For numerous businesses, the opportunity to use a personal aircraft in order to be at conventions or seminars all over the planet is a requirement, not an extravagance. However, the cost of maintaining an array of executive jets is too expensive and as a result, scores of corporate events have the possibility to be missed.

However, with fractional ownership schemes, a business man could have access to a large variety of private aircraft located across planet at anytime at a fraction of the cost and without the vital mechanical maintenance that is associated with executive jet ownership.

Whether you or your business want to hire a private jet for a swift flight to make a vital seminar or require a executive jet that enables you or your business colleagues to carry on working, make a business conference call or hold a seminar whilst travelling to a meeting in a different country, fractional ownership plans gives you the choices you need.

Working with large collections of private aircraft of varying levels of service, size and range, fractional membership aircraft organisations provide a different choice for anyone looking to organise a private jet or helicopter journey.

The choice of airplanes and combined with their assured global availability enables a customer unrivalled access to a variety of jet aircraft, without the accepted costs and staff requirements which puts many organisations off. Simply arranging the journey with a fractional ownership organisation, they can supply a company with the relevant private plane; arrange all of the organisational and workforce concerns, so all you need to do is arrive. Find a range of fractional private jet aircraft
companies online.

Making full use of fractional ownership has proved to be appealing to many companies as they receive all of the positives of business jet charters, yet only pay for the hours a company uses.

Every single aspect of the journey is planned by the charter company, ensuring the swiftest, well organised journey is organised for you. With a wide ranging fleet of private jet aircraft, any organisation have a massive range of executive jet lease choices, so if 1 week a passenger requires a small jet plane and the next week you need to fly your business team from Manchester to New York for a business meeting, the flexibility of fractional ownership is there to present you with just the correct jet aircraft you want.

Looking after your finances can be difficult at the best of times, especially in the current financial climate. Taking advantage of credit when buying electrical goods from places such as BrightHouse can be a good way to save some money. However, there are lots of ways in which you can ease the strain by managing various aspects of your financial processed in a better way, and you will be surprised at what a difference this can make overall. It’s a fantastic idea to take advantage of valuable tips to help with effective financial management ranging from paying your mortgage to being more savvy about your loans, credit cards, and savings.

A huge problem people have faced in recent times has been the over-availability of cheap credit with people borrowing far beyond their means, and as it has turned out the banks lending far beyond their means. If you have a large about of credit card debt the best thing to do is to ensure you work out in a clear and concise fashion how big you can afford to make your repayments in a chart. Not only will this help with repayments you can clearly see when the debt will have been paid off.

If your spending can quickly spiral out of control you need to be careful with this credit card you can follow your spending urges but only for a particular amount of time. Writing checks or making cash point purchases that total more than you have in your checking account can have dire consequences. As well as the embarrassment of collecting a bounced check from the merchant it was written to there are the high fees a bank charged when this happens. To help avoid such problems, most banks have developed various Overdraft Protection programs. Such schemes such as the payments protection scheme are widely perceived as bad value for money.

A useful way to recoup money in the long run is to overpay your mortgage when interest rates are so low. Even though you may imagine that you have plenty of other things that you would rather do with a spare £150 a month, by paying this amount on top of your monthly mortgage repayment you could cut the repayment period by over five years, and could save around £25,000 in interest overall, which is well worth paying a little extra each month and will save you a fortune in the long run.

A flourishing business depends on efficient people management skills. With a little effort you may succeed in learning these techniques. Having a natural affinity for communicating with people and forming relationships can be an advantage, but you can do many things that will simplify the process.

Succeeding in business depends to a great extent on good people management skills. People management can be improved and studied. Having a spontaneous skill for communicating with people and building relationships is a plus, but there are numerous things you can do that will make the process easy.

Relationship Building: Begin by memorizing the names of the employees. Engage in conversation; look people in the eye as you are speaking. Have a respectful attitude, and listen to the other person’s point of view, regardless of whether you are in agreement with them. Developing the ability to listen is among the most effective things you can do to improve your talent management skills. Encourage any comments from your co-workers. Live up to your word: Do not give promises you won’t fulfill. When a promise is broken, it will destroy trust, and if they don’t trust you your staff will not give you their best. Each time you give a commitment or make a promise, do be sure you can keep your promises or it would really be more sensible not to give your word at all. You’ll discover, when your people can’t count on your word, you can be certain they will behave in a similar fashion.

Welcome feedback: Feedback must be a mutual process. Human Resources management skills mean having an open mind to all feedback. Being accessible and open demonstrates that other’s thoughts count, your opinions will be valued in the same fashion. Honest discourse in addition promotes fresh ways of thinking, ways of accomplishing goals, and develops the team dynamic. If your team can express their ideas, the outcome will become important to every team member. Encourage communication: People management skills come down to one concept – good communication. Keeping an open door policy, listen closely to other people, be open minded, and permit all your staff an equal voice. Encourage team members not just to speak to you, but also to speak to each other. The growth of a business relies to a great extent on the open exchange of ideas, and in speaking with one another, it is easy to spot issues before they may present a problem, and corrections can be put in place before things get out of hand.

This can take some time, all the same the payoff is worthwhile. By building the bonds of a good team and developing good listening skills, a flourishing business will be yours.

Relationships among a firm’s functional business activities take form when there is focus on organizational culture, an internal phenomenon that permeates all departments and divisions in an organization. Organizational culture is a “culture of an organization often expressed as ‘the way we do things around here’ and consists of largely unspoken values, norms, and behaviors that become the natural way of doing things”.

Intelius, a Bellevue, Washington-based leading online employment screening, background check, and people search provider is recognized as an exemplary workplace, earning citations such as one of Washington’s Top 3 Best Workplaces by the Puget Sound Business Journal in 2007, and one of Washington’s Best Companies to Work For by Washington CEO in 2008. Anonymous surveys conducted on its employees indicate high ratings on the area of culture, highlighting the leadership styles and methods espoused by its executives and the kind of organizational culture this brand of leadership has created.

Naveen Jain, co-founder and CEO of Intelius, a recognized innovator and technology pioneer, recognizes the need for an open working environment to keep the company at the top of its game. A former senior executive in Microsoft and founder of InfoSpace, Naveen Jain has had enough experience to know the lessons in the trade – in the field of info-commerce, competition is fierce – and the only way that the company can move forward is through sustained innovation. Thus, employees must be citizens of an institution that promotes creativity and freedom.

Naveen Jain believes that the organizational culture at Intellius is one where it is truly exciting to learn, and it does not really matter if what the company has is the latest in technology, or a breakthrough product, or a better administrative process. An appreciation for all the members of the company, regardless of rank and position, and a democratic leadership that engages communication, are what defines its organizational culture and translates to its rapid rise from a fledgling startup in 2003 to one of the fastest-growing companies in North America in 2008.

Latest research has revealed that workers who regularly go to office, even when not in good health are more likely to take a long-term sick leave later on.

The practice of going to office despite being ill is known as ’sickness presence’, or ‘presenteeism’. Not much information was available on the long-term impacts of this behaviour before the current study.

The research was conducted on 12,000 working individuals by Danish researchers to analyze their work attitudes, sick leaves taken, and their general health. They were questioned on how many times they came to work in the previous year despite being ill. The results showed that around 42% of the respondents had never attended offices or had done so only once during an illness. Almost half the people had resorted to presenteeism two to five times in the previous year and 8% had done so six times or more.

Researchers then used official data on these individuals for the next 18 months to assess the number of workers who were on a sick leave for more than two weeks. It was found that reporting for work when unwell increased the respondent’s probability of falling sick for two weeks or more during the study period. Data showed that individuals who had done the same at least half a dozen times in the last year were 53% more likely to fall sick for two weeks and 74% more prone to take leave for two months or more due to illness, compared to those individuals who gave their health priority over work.

Poor health, work pressure, family-office life imbalance, senior positions, and obesity were observed among those people who came to work despite illness.

A similar study conducted in 2005 with British civil servants had showed that workers with ill health who did not take proper rest had twice the risk of heart problems compared to those who took a sick leave when necessary.

Keep up-to-date with health and safety regulations that can save employees from serious injury and avoid court procedures that can cost companies many thousands of pounds. Visit the Workplace Law website and find out all about their iosh distance learning course for information about how your company can avoid falling foul of health and safety legalities.

It is true to say that in many circumstances imitation may not be the sincerest form of flattery. However it is also hard to not acknowledge the role of successful Euro transition in reviving interest in currency unions elsewhere, as leading figures such as Peter Sutherland have noticed. Events have set back the target dates of 2010 for a Gulf Cooperation Council single currency, and 2011 for an Eastern Caribbean States economic union are fast becoming an unrealistic prospect; even more so, the single East Asian currency proposed by the Asian Development Bank’s then-president Tadao Chinoin 2004, and the African Union’s plan for an African Economic Community by 2023. But it’s a tribute to the Euro’s relatively smooth launch, and early stability of the Eurozone as a whole, that other demographic regions even considered making a similar move themselves.

The Euro has given emerging economies another more generally beneficial economic example: one external exchange rate to take care of instead of Reductions in exchange risk and transaction cost were a major selling-point of economic and monetary union (EMU) within the EU. Taken together all of these positive points have been proportionally greater for many of its smaller less-developed country (LDC) trading partners. The Millennium Development Goals are still frustrated by the European Union dragging its feet on farm reform (disrupting conditions for many low-income agricultural producers); and by its switch to WTO compliant trade pacts that force reciprocal concessions from those enjoying tariff-free free goods and service trade, with a risk of killing their fledgling industries in infancy. At least, through the Euro, Europe has delivered one important compensation. A single EU currency significantly reduces the costs and risks to LDC central banks of monitoring exchange rates and external debt with only a small amount of reserves – and to LDC businesses of hedging (or gambling with) currency risk when they borrow, exchange capital or engage in trade with Europe.

But the UK’s absence from the single currency has meant a serious dilution of these emerging-world benefits, especially for those countries whose trade was steered towards Britain by colonisation and the subsequent ’sterling area’. This has been a burden to bear for the Euro Zones newer members most notably Cyprus and Malta, whose visible tourism trade is still highly UK centric but whose imported fuel, goods and services come mainly from elsewhere where the single Euro currency prevails. The United Kingdom’s trade integration and economic convergence with other member states, which makes its monetary union with them increasingly appropriate, also means that LDCs once focused on the sterling or Euro zones are now deeply engaged with both. These too-frequent victims of ‘economic adjustment’ await a a policy decision which would not weigh so heavily, from London, that would lessen the risk of a currency crisis recurring.

Small business owners and entrepreneurs who are seeking sustainable success probably don’t realize that they are creating their own success puzzle. Each executive builds a puzzle that is a unique picture because success is different for every entrepreneur.

However, within each of these success puzzles are many pieces that are always present even though the shape, size and color when comparing pieces may be different. And in some cases, there may be more than just one piece.

Accountability – Is accountability executed by everyone within the organization?

Attitudes – Is your success because of knowledge and skills or attitudes and habits?

Awareness – Is your ability to think creatively and “out of the box”

Commitment – What is your level of commitment to doing the right thing at the right time in accordance with the right plan and aligned with the right values?

Customers or Clients – Do you have an identified customer base and how are you serving those customers?

Dreams – What are your dreams for your business and for yourself?

Execution – How well do you consistently execute your plans?

Goals – What are your goals?

Initiative or Risk Taking – Is initiative valued in your business or do you fear taking a risk?

Leadership – How well do your lead your business?

Measurement – Do you actively measure your actions to ensure that you know the results of your activities?

Mentors – Who do you turn to when you have questions and who supports you when you execute new initiatives to reach your dreams?

Passion – What is Your Passion or how do you love life?

People Development – Are your people being developed to reach their full potential because people make or break your business?

Plans – Do you have an overall strategic plan that includes marketing, sales, financials and productivity plans?

Remember: If you don’t have a plan, then you are on someone else’s plan.

Processes – What processes do you have in place to ensure the smooth movement of products and services to your customers?

Products and/or Services – What products or services do you deliver to your customers or are needed by your customers?

Purpose – What is reason for you being in business?

Quality – Is quality part of your ongoing business development?

Values – What behaviors will you allow within your business for both internal and external customers?

Vision – What is your big picture of where you wish to take the business?

The challenge for each small business owner is three fold:

First, make sure that all 21 essential pieces are present within your success puzzle.

Second, when completing your success puzzle make sure that all pieces are connected to each other.

Finally, the picture that your success puzzle creates should be your picture of success not someone else’s vision.

Winning small and home based businesses today must continually shake things up to stay in the game. Whether it’s adding new marketing twists on existing products and services or anticipating customer wants with compatible new items you can add to your product mix, hatching new ideas and concepts is vital to a profitable company.

AAA
Here is what I call the “Triple A” way to plant seeds of idea generation, innovation and creativity: Anticipate, Ask, and Add.

Anticipate: Is there something your customers want and don’t realize they need? Something compatible with your business that you can provide. Take time to study trends and new business ideas from around the world. When a product, idea or strategy intrigues and inspires you, ask yourself, “How can this be an opportunity for me?” You can often easily borrow and tweak ideas from other industries and regions with a little thought and successfully apply them to your own micro small or home business. Doing this on a regular basis will keep you light years ahead of your competitors.

Are you passionate about a particular cause? Consider the following.

A Dutch designer created a unique fashion label, called 50/50 with cast offs from Salvation Army thrift stores. Profits are shared equally between the company and the Salvation Army. The label is now sold in Holland’s most popular department store and doing well. Social Entrepreneurship is a fast emerging trend where companies appeal to the social consciences of consumers by conducting their businesses in accord with certain standards (i.e Sweatshop Free, Environmentally Safe, etc.) or by partnering with a charity such as 50/50 has done.

Attorney Alayna Kassan and her partner, Cynthia W. Dressel met in 1999, after each had successfully fought Hodgkins Disease, a form of Lymphoma Cancer. Anxious to give back to the community that helped them in their time of need, they launched Presents for Purpose (http://presentsforpurpose.com)which offers creative, unique and unusual gift items with a portion of the proceeds going to a the partner charity of the purchaser’s choice.

Is there a way to tie your products to your favorite cause, do some good and make some money at the same time?

Anticipate worldwide, national, and regional trends.

Capitalizing on a regional trend 17 years ago with one of it’s own products, Tyson Foods, the Arkansas-based poultry giant, noticed it was selling more chicken wings in Buffalo, NY than anywhere else in the country. Sports bars were buying them as an inexpensive appetizer. In a brilliant move, Tyson borrowed the idea of “Buffalo Wings” and rolled out a nationwide promotion, creating a huge market for a previously unmarketable product.

If you are selling multiple products or have more than one service, you know which ones sell the best, but what do you know about what your customers are buying? Is there a product or service that may not be a top seller, but is selling well to one particular group (i.e. Seniors,Baby Boomers, GenX, Women over or under a certain age, men, etc.) or in a specific region? Is there a niche you may be missing? Like Tyson, become a trend spotter with your own customer base. Analyze all of your products or services in light of your customer’s profiles and look for trends and common traits. You may find a new way of marketing a lesser performing product or service. If you don’t know who is buying your products or services, you can easily invite your customers to give you some basic information on order forms, etc.

Ask: Ask for information, such as surveys to get customer feedback. Surveys are inexpensive and can be done by post card, phone or email. Why do your customers select you over competitors? It is not always obvious. What concerns do they have about your products or services? Armed with this information you can adjust your marketing appropriately.

Merry Maids, the well known house cleaning franchise initially focused it’s marketing on how well it cleaned homes. When they discovered customers were more concerned about letting strangers into their homes, Merry Maids tightened its hiring practices and changed its advertising to tout peace of mind as well as a clean home. Revenues increased 32% from 1998 to 2003.

Ask your customers for ideas that can help improve your products or services.

BMW’s Virtual Innovation Agency (VIA) canvasses people worldwide for suggestions. It received 4,000 ideas in the first week. Go to BMW (http://bmw.com), click on innovation (under the “BMW Group” menu), to make your own contribution to BMW’s idea bank.

Like BMW, consider adding a customer idea bank to your website and offer a prize for the best ideas that you end up using or create a secret club for those offering the most useful ideas. Hold a customer appreciation night and create a fun idea generating game for your business.

The Walt Disney Company holds its own “Gong Show,” three times a year, at which any employee can pitch a concept or movie plot. Executives hit a giant gong if it considers an idea a dud.

Asking your customers for ideas will give you a great deal of information about what your customers want, you’ll have fun and maybe even get a fantastic and profitable idea or two.

Add: Customers want and buy value. Take the information gleaned from anticipating and asking and review your customers’ most pressing needs and wants. In short, Add value. One way to add value is to brainstorm ways to save customers time and money. Make your customers lives simpler and easier with your existing products or by adding compatible new ones.

A small credit union in Kentucky added value when it realized customers were annoyed by long lines. With no space for additional tellers, it mailed members suggestions on how to avoid long waits. In addition, taking a page from the Disney playbook where waiting in long lines is made as enjoyable as possible, this creative credit union installed TVs near lines to make customers feel that they were using their time productively. Result: Complaints practically disappeared and countless members did not take their business elsewhere. (Richard Hamilton has written a inspiring series of books called Disney Magic on the Disney business model and how you can apply it’s strategies and ideas to your own micro small or home business).

Consider consumers’ need for simplicity, order and more quality time – a trend that gets stronger by the day in a fast paced world where multitasking is does not even begin to solve the time crunch.

Take a look at how this cool ‘Lifestyle Management’ company from the UK has used the simplicity trend to add value to traditional domestic services. Urban Angels helps customers juggle the 9-5 with home and family commitments, bringing balance back to their lives efficiently and affordably. US based Real Simple Magazine profits from this trend by adding value to its 1.5 million affluent readers (median age 40, median household income $90,000) with tips and tricks on which products to buy to make their busy lives easier.

By Anticipating customer wants and needs through keen observation and study of consumer trends and new business ideas, Asking your customers for feedback and ideas, you can gain plenty of creative inspiration to generate moneymaking ideas to boost your profits. Finally, use your new ideas to Add value for your customers.

Make generating ideas a regular practice

Micro small and home business owners continually mention lack of time as a major barrier to idea generation, creativity and innovation, yet your business cannot afford to be without a steady stream of new ideas. Here are a few simple suggestions to make idea generation a part of your regular routine without taking a lot of time.

Set idea goals: One highly successful micro business I know sets a goal of coming up with 5 new ideas that might help his business every week no matter how offbeat they may seem at the time. Every 2 weeks or so, he reviews the ideas and brainstorms – developing the best ideas into concrete action.

Keep an Idea Journal: Create an idea journal and keep it handy at all times. Whenever you hear, read or see something that intrigues you, write it down immediately in your idea journal. Reserve an hour once a week, once a month or whatever time period works best for you to review your journal and brainstorm. Develop the best ideas into action plans.

Mind Map your Best Ideas: Mind mapping is a graphical brainstorming technique based on the science of what is known about how we think and is an excellent and relatively quick method for developing new ideas. Mind Mapping can either be done by hand or with various software programs on the market. Simply search the term “mind mapping” and you will find plenty of resources.

Brooks, is a small and home business idea and strategic marketing consultant, and the founder of The Small Biz Games, (http://smallbizgames.com), a free awards recognition program with cash awards, Olympic style medals and positive public exposure for micro small business owners and home business owners.

Not too long ago, I brought together all of the department heads of our organization in order to establish and clearly define our company’s core values. One of the questions I posed was, “What values are important to us?” Not just as individuals, but as an organization.History teaches that many companies soared to success for a few years, only to come to a crashing halt. The reason? No clear established values. As I stated in our last newsletter, values guide each and every decision. Unless the values of your company are clearly defined and communicated, your employees will become dis-unified and will work from their own script. Ultimately, an organization can only exist for so long under that mode of operation.I cannot stress enough the importance of clarifying your organization’s values. It is a tedious process, but plays a major role in the duration of your company’s success. As promised here are those three questions to help you clearly define your organization’s values. If you have not clearly defined your organization’s values, I encourage you to call a meeting today with all your team leaders and cover with them these three questions:1. For what do we want to be known?2. Why do we do what we do?3. What contribution do we want to make in the world?Bonus: Here are the values of RTI:1. Excellence -Always strive to get better.2. Family – Family before work.3. Integrity – Do what is right regardless of the cost.4. Service – We exist to serve.5.
