The most important thing is to have your toes pointing towards a line which is pointing to the target.
By this I mean, place a club on the ground between you and the target.
Long axis pointing directly at the target.
Stand with your toes just touching the shaft of the club.
You are now lined up to make your golf swing and to hit your ball towards the target.
Out on the course, you have to use an imaginary line in the same way.
Before you hit your shot, stand with a club aimed at the target.
You will see two images of the club.
Make one image lie across the ball as it aims at the target.
Look for a blade of grass or similar landmark about two or three feet beyond the ball also crossed by the club.
The ball and this land mark form the line along which you will line up.

Do this on the practice fairway so that you can check that you are correct in what you are doing.
When you have lined up, place a club just in front of your toes, and see if it is aiming at the target.
If it is not then note where the club is pointing.
Try to line up again but this time move your front foot to try to correct the error in your first attempt to line up.Then repeat the exercise of the club just touching your toes and see where it is pointing this time. When you get it right, remember this small movement and do it each time you line up.

You will find that the error will be consistent, and each time you make the small movement with your front foot, you will be correctly lined up.
Experiment until you have it right. It is very important to line up correctly. If you are slightly off line, and you are approaching a green surrounded by bunkers you will most likely hit into one of them because you are not lined up correctly.

Fiberglass is a relatively strong material under normal circumstances. It is made from plastic resin and synthetic fiber. You can guard your fiberglass body kit against cracks and tears by minimizing its direct exposure to undue stress. The strength of this material depends on the methods employed by the manufacturers to mold it.

Ordinarily, fiberglass is very good material for a body kit. But unlike metal, it can easily be damaged, and it also fatigues over time, leading to cracks. If you are envious of great athletes, you’ll be interested in the true story of the marriage of two great Olympic athletes. The dominant athlete of the 1968 Olympics was Vera Caslavska of Czechoslovakia who won 4 gold and two silver medal in gymnastics. Right after the closing Olympic ceremony in 1968, she married Joseph Odlizil, the 1964 Olympic silver medalist from Czechoslovakia in the 1500 meters. Soon afterwards, they had a child.

Thirty years later, on January 24, 1997, President Vaclav Havel of Czechoslovakia granted a pardon to Martin Odlozil, the child of this marriage of two of the greatest Olympic athletes. The son of this marriage had been sentenced to four years in prison for killing his father. Four-time Olympic gold medalist Emil Zatopek, and arguably the greatest distance runner ever, signed a petition for the release of Martin Odlozil. Emil Zatopek spent a part of his life cleaning the streets of Prague for criticizing the Soviet Union for invading Czechoslovakia.

At the time of the pardon of Martin Odlizil, his mother, the greatest Olympic gymnast Vera Caslavska, was hospitalized at the Bohnice Psychiatric Center having been destroyed emotionally by her tragic life. The father is killed by his son born from a marriage of two great Olympic athletes, Caslavska began her fabulous athletic career as a figure skater, but at the age of 12 turned to gymnastics and placed first overall in gymnastics at the 1964 Olympics in Tokyo, also taking gold medals in the beam and the vault. In the 1965 and 1967 world championships she won every gymnastic event. She closed her career at the 1968 Olympic Games in Mexico City, winning gold medals in the combined exercises and the uneven bars, the floor exercise, and the vault. She also won a silver medal in the balance beam and shared a team silver.

It would seem that Caslavska would retire in glory, but there were hard times for everyone in Czechoslovakia. The Russians seized Czechoslovakia and made it a puppet state. But Vera Caslavska, the great Olympic athlete, and strong-willed person remained loyal to her native country. Prior to her spectacular performance at the 1968 Olympics, she signed Ludvik Vaculik’s controversial manifesto, “Two Thousand Words.” Part of the Prague Spring, the work critcized the puppet Czechoslovak government. In August, Soviet troops invaded Czechoslovakia to restore order. Prominent citizens who had spoken out, including Vera Caslavska, were subject to imprisonment. In fear of such a fate, Caslavska left the national team to hide in the small town of Sumperk.

As the Mexico City Games approached she was able to rejoin her teammates by special permission of the Czech government. When she arrived home, she learned that her criticism of the Soviet Union would not go unpunished. She could not find a job, she had two children and her marriage fell apart. Her husband remained loyal to the Russian invaders, and married another woman. Vera Caslavska did not remarry, choosing to take care of her two children from her marriage to the famous Czech distance runner.

On January 3, 1970 great Olympic champion and political outcast, Vera Caslavska applied for a job with the Czechoslovakian national gymnastics team. She was told by authorities, “Come back next year, this is not a suitable time.” For five consecutive years, on every January 3, she appeared in the same office, asking for the same job and was told that she would get a job only if she claimed to never have signed the manifesto against Russia. Caslavska refused. During a 1984 visit, Olympic president Juan Antonio Samaranch was told he could not see Caslavska because she was experiencing “family problems.” A year later Samaranch returned and insisted on seeing Vera to present her with the Olympic Order. The authorities relented, signaling Caslavska’s return to public life. Her emotional health declined making service and travel difficult, but she lived with her two children, Martin and Radka, in Prague.

New fallen snow blanketed the countryside. The sounds of passing cars along the road were muted in the still, peaceful air. Hills and valleys, in their blanket of snow, rolled softly into the distance, bathed in the mellow light of a nearly full moon. A woody smell of burning pine and warm hearths teased at my nostrils as I turned up the lane toward the house, snow crunching beneath my boots.

The house shone with a warm hazy glow, gentle sounds of laughter and Christmas carols hung sweetly in the air. A string of lights – red, green, blue, yellow – bright and happy, wound around the big picture window next to the front door of the house. In the window stood a tall, handsome Spruce, freshly cut from the surrounding hills. Bright shiny ornaments, colorful lights, garland, and tinsel adorned every sturdy branch. At the very top, a big star blazed brightly, beckoning me into this warm, cozy house.

A dog barked in the moonlit distance as I walked up the narrow path to the front door. I reached out my hand to turn the big brass doorknob…

There was a squeal of brakes and the clatter of garbage cans, the men in their stained coveralls hoisted the contents into the back of the garbage truck. Then the roar of the diesel engine as they moved up the rain-soaked street to continue their daily, early-morning rounds…

Once again, the world from outside my San Francisco flat intruded abruptly into my dream-induced inner reality. The crunching snow under my boots and the dusky smell of smoke in my nostrils was my dream-like version of Christmases long gone…

I awoke to Christmastime in San Francisco…

It was all a dream of course. The passage of thirty or forty years tends toward an idealized, Norman Rockwell-like remembrance of my childhood Christmas. I’m sure that even then the early morning rounds of garbagemen jolted people out of languid, happy dreams of Christmas and youth.

But as my drowsy brain awakens to reality, I recall fond memories of a more recent past, right here in the City.

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas in San Francisco…

Winter in San Francisco is the one time during the year that it is generally warmer in the City than in the outlying areas…

Mark Twain once observed that the coldest winter he ever spent was a summer day in San Francisco. The summers are cool, and the winters are mild. The changing of the seasons are a bit more subtle here, but they are here…

The brilliant blue sky after a good winter storm – one or two inches of rain – as the late autumn afternoon sun casts dramatic shadows on the flats in the neighborhood. The deep, sound-deadening fog of winter that seems to come up from the ground instead of the summer variety that comes off the ocean. The light dusting of snow on the outlying hills surrounding San Francisco… Mt. Diablo, Mt. Hamilton, Mt. Tamalpais…

People bustling down the street, dressed in their winter garb. Odd combinations of scarf, heavy down jacket, gloves – and shorts… sometimes even sandals. There tends to be confusion here if it’s really hot or cold. Or both at the same time, which, oddly enough, happens in San Francisco. Dressing in December can be tricky- indeed, any month of the year – and “layers” is the mantra of the well-dressed shopper or merry-maker. And there are people here that just seem to have an aversion to long pants.

From the silly to the sublime, concerts and shows celebrate the Christmas spirit…

From “A Christmas Carol” at the American Conservatory Theater. To “The Nutcracker Suite” performed by the San Francisco Ballet. To Handel’s “Messiah”, at the magnificent Grace Cathedral atop Nob Hill. To the venerable dancing Christmas Trees and Sequined Santa of “Beach Blanket Babylon”, the unique cabaret-style show that is a San Francisco landmark in its thirtieth year.

A walk down to Union Square with all the high-end retailers competing for the best window display… Eight stories of neon Christmas wreaths – dozens of them – adorning Macys. Winter scenes at Tiffany’s reminiscent of my Christmas dream….Wegman Dogs – dogs with human bodies – cook Christmas dinner, play at snowball fights, and dream sweet dreams of Christmas in the windows at Saks Fifth Avenue.

At the corner of Post and Mason, two young women display their musical talents with voice and harp, the sounds of Christmas music mixing gently with the sound of car horns and busses…

A passing cable car slowly climbing Nob Hill, brightly-lit reindeer on the roof cheerfully guiding its sluggish ascent as the cableman skillfully rings out Christmas carols with the bell…

The mix of humanity on the sidewalk, from wealthy shoppers to homeless street people. Pan-handlers offering their usual mix of “Street Sheets” for a dollar; guilt – “come on… it’s Christmas” – as they challenge your averted glance; and humor – “can you spare two-thousand for lunch in Rome?” – and whoever smiles first gets the rest of the spiel…

From Union Square, an aimless walk up Nob Hill among the fine, old, brick apartment houses with their white-gloved doorman attending the entrance, a tall Christmas tree brightly lit in the lobby. On to the stately Victorians of Russian Hill, with their mix of lights and garland and trees decorating the individual flats…

An eggnog and rum at a lively North Beach pub, or a delicious meal at one of the many fine Italian restaurants, or perhaps some jazz at Pearls, in the neighborhood made famous by the “beat” generation.

Yes indeed, San Francisco is alive with sights and sounds and smells and stories…

At Christmas, this city that has always been a little quirky, a little colorful, and even a little strange, comes alive with the sights, sounds, smells, and stories of the season…

Step aside Desktop PC, it’s the age of the portable computer, or at least that what the massive demand alludes to. It seems like the demand is outstripping the supply as manufacturers are struggling to meet deadlines for shipments. Laptops have just been an incredible business to keep tabs on. There has been no slip in sales. The technology intervals are so tiny too which makes it all the more of an up hill struggle.

A lot of companies have been coming out with gaming laptops lately. Prices are also dropping because the life has become so small for laptops. Gaming frame rates on laptops is fairly good considering the factors at play so if you need portability they provide a good choice. Smaller parts that perform better and are run cooler also means that gone are the times of the enormous laptop computers for gaming. Though gaming laptops have come a long way in many departments, in terms of raw performance they still can’t compete with desktops. I would not give it too long before we see ultra light gaming laptops on the shelves.

Power portables are typically custom built to the users specification. With custom built laptops you normally get to uncover what brand of parts is going into the laptop. The advantageous thing is that you do not end up paying for unecessary additions you do not need. Regardless of the fact of there being lots of notebook computers in the market its slim you will find a lot of alternatives of powerful portables. So clearly this is why you need a custom notebook. I think one also gets improved support when getting a custom notebooks. Yet an additional great reason.

The next notebook computer technology will be breathtaking. Portable internet laptops are the latest product to get mass market popularity. Lighter enclosures needed for such laptops are still too expensive. I can predict its not too long before we begin experiencing gaming laptops that are weightless. Maine is recognized as one of the most healthful states in the nation, and perhaps it has the blueberry, Maine’s official state berry, to thank in large part. Native Americans valued wild blueberries for their nutritional and healing qualities long before European settlers arrived in North America; they encouraged their growth, gathering and eating them in season and drying them for use in winter.

Early settlers also cherished blueberries as a staple ingredient in foods and medicines. The first cultivated highbush blueberries were transplanted from the wild. Highbush berries are larger, growing on bushes that are 4-8 feet tall, and are relatively easy to pick by hand. In the wild, they prefer wet, boggy habitats. The wild lowbush blueberry is usually harvested with a blueberry rake, which was invented by a Mainer, Abijah Tabbut, in 1822.

The wild blueberry holds a special place in Maine’s agricultural history, first being harvested commercially in the 1840s. Both wild and cultivated types are now thriving industries in the state; Maine produces 99% of all the blueberries in the country, making it the single largest producer of blueberries in the United States and the largest producer of wild blueberries in the world.

In the U.S., wild Maine blueberries are unique to a 60,000-acre area, growing naturally in fields and barrens across eastern Maine. They thrive in the naturally acid, low-fertility soils; cool, moist sea air; and challenging winters; and, because they are indigenous to Maine, are naturally resistant to many native pests. Several varieties ripen at different times throughout the summer, and will often stay ripe right into early autumn. Wild blueberries require minimal management and are sweet and irresistibly delicious.

Today blueberries are one of Maine’s most important agricultural crops, making a contribution to the state’s economy to the tune of more than $75 million annually. Moreover, thanks to new knowledge about the health and nutritional benefits of blueberries, there is a growing demand for both fresh and processed wild blueberries in the U.S. and abroad.
